Sustainable Campus

Sustainable Campus

Rapid urbanization and population growth on a global scale have caused serious environmental consequences in recent years. The need for sustainability has become more important than ever. The concept of sustainability was first used in the Brundtland Report prepared by the United Nations World Environment and Development Commission (WCED) in 1987 and attention was drawn to the environmental rights of future generations.

Abdullah Gül University has a university understanding that attaches importance to social contribution and adopts the goal of leading the society in environmental awareness and sustainability issues. Our university attaches importance to sustainability criteria in order to create a sustainable campus life. Green building certification systems accepted were examined which are used all around the world and applications were made according to the LEED Certification process in the construction of the Rectorate, Administrative and Classrooms Building. As a result of the application, our building has obtained the LEED Silver Certificate.

Sustainability practices in our campus; Campus settlement and infrastructure, energy, waste management, efficient use of water resources and transportation are continuing.
