The AGU Energy Efficiency Policy is aimed to use energy resources efficiently in order to prevent energy waste and protect the environment.
Necessary notifications for energy saving on campus are given below.
ENERGY SAVING MEASURES ON CAMPUS
Electric Energy Management
-Lighting
Lighting is one of the primary energy-consuming systems in buildings. The architecture of our campus buildings is designed to make maximum use of daylight. In addition, thanks to the presence of sensors connected to the lighting automation, the lighting of the unused common areas are turned off. Lighting intensities, on the other hand, are adjusted automatically according to the data received from the lighting sensors in the spaces and are kept at a level to achieve optimum working conditions under all conditions. In addition to the automation system, lighting control can be provided with manual interventions. LED lighting is used in our buildings for effective lighting and energy saving.
Illuminance level measurements were made for each space in the campus buildings, and LED luminaires were added or reduced at the lighting intensity values determined in TS EN 12464 Standards according to the space characteristics.
- Automation
Automation infrastructure is available for all lighting and heating/cooling systems in our buildings. Space lighting and heating/cooling devices work at certain times through this automation.
Presence detectors are used in offices and classrooms, thus lighting and heating/cooling systems are automatically turned off when the place is not used, thus saving energy. There are motion detectors in certain areas such as corridors and WCs, thus saving energy.
- Maintenance of Devices
The mechanical devices and ventilation systems in our buildings are controlled and maintained periodically, thus preventing possible malfunctions and reducing energy losses by ensuring that the devices work at an optimum level.
- Regular Energy Consumption Control
Our electrical engineer personnel working in our department completed his training in 2018 by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and received the "Energy Manager Certificate".
In this direction, in line with the Energy Efficiency Law No. 5627, we report the energy consumption data of the previous year to the Ministry through the website of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources https://enverportal.enerji.gov.tr/ every year until the end of March.
- Use of Renewable Energy
We care about using renewable energy sources according to the location of our campuses.
We aim to convert solar energy panels into electrical energy by placing solar energy panels in buildings located on the Sümer Campus with suitable roof areas.
We aim to convert wind energy into electrical energy by placing a wind turbine in Mimarsinan Campus.
Technical Devices
In order to ensure the high efficiency and longevity of the electrical devices used in our university, harmonic monitoring of the electrical system is carried out periodically. In case of any malfunction in the system, intervention is made and the system is maintained and repaired.
During the building design and project phase, attention is paid to the compliance of the devices (ups, frequency convector, etc.) to be used in the building with the standards, and the project and device technical specifications are created accordingly.
Water Management
- Water-Saving Applications
Photocell batteries are used in the sinks of the campus buildings. Again, it is aimed to use the water at the optimum level by pressurizing the coil ends by using aerators.
-Use of Natural Resources
There are three underground wells on the campus. Landscape irrigation is irrigated with the water extracted from here. In this way, the use of mains water is prevented. In addition, campus landscape irrigation is carried out at night, especially in summer, and it is aimed to prevent evaporation.
-Landscape Applications
On our campus, there are mostly black pine and acacia trees that need little water. Pine trees were planted in the empty areas.
-Separation of Waste Water
Sewerage and rainwater lines are separated in the campus infrastructure. In this direction, it is aimed to cause less harm to the environment. It is aimed to connect the new building expenses to these lines. On the other hand, filtration applications are carried out on the expenses in the laboratories located in our buildings, thus preventing possible harmful wastes from mixing with the water as much as possible.
-Gray Water System
Gray water system is used in the campus to recycle the water. The recycled water is given to the toilet flushes. Here is the working principle of AGU's graywater system.
